What We Do
Assemblies
When taking assemblies we seek to bring the Bible to life, in an up-to-date, child friendly and relevant way.
We aim to do this by being:
-
Entertaining, but reverent and respectful.
-
Modern, but true to the Bible.
-
Lively, but reflective.
-
Relevant to children’s lives today.
.
Assemblies include engaging action songs and plenty of opportunities for participation
Spotlight Clubs
Spotlight Clubs are Christian themed after-school clubs that run at the end of the school day for approximately an hour. Sessions include a Bible story and a mixture of games, craft, activities, songs and challenges. Child attendance is subject to parent/carer consent.
CheckPoint provides all resources and materials at no cost to the school. However, we ask schools to assist us by taking responsibility for distributing and collecting the required consent forms. Although not necessary to attend the Clubs, we ask that a member of staff be readily accessible in case of emergency.
R.E. Lessons
We can support the RE curriculum in two ways:
1. Bible Explorer Lessons
Bible Explorer lessons are a series of five one-hour fun packed, interactive sessions. Year 5 children are given an overview of the Old Testament and Year 6s an overview of the New Testament. For mixed Year 5 and 6 classes we cover the Old and New Testament on alternate years. For each series of lessons a workbook is available which provides children with a reminder of the lesson content and follow-up activities.
NB: ('Walk Thru the Bible Ministries' hold the copyright for these series of lessons)
2. R.E. Lessons
We can provide ‘bespoke’ one-off lessons on a range of topics to bring a Christian perspective to the RE curriculum. Recent topics include 'What being a Christian means to me' and 'Faith - what difference does it make to me?'. Please contact Joe to discuss your requirements and check his availabilit
